Nutrition and meal planning are an important step with any weight training or fitness program. Knowing what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat it, can make a big difference in succeeding your weight training and strength goals. Below is an article from Shelby Starnes, a top nutritionist and national level bodybuilder, that gives a great insight on what cheat meals are so you can master them. Many people don’t realize there is a difference between a cheat meal and a re-feeding meal.
A cheat meal is a no holds barred, eat whatever you want. This is vastly different from the re-feeding meal which is eating selected clean items, like potatoes or rice, while on a low carb meal plan.
The most important part I took away from this article is that you can cheat clean. Also, with any weight training program we take our bodies to the max, and it’s important to know how to listen to your body so you can re-feed when necessary. Our bodies are fuel burning machines. We have to make sure to give it fuel (proper food) and perform maintenance (listening to your body) to get the best results.
