Have you noticed that almost every other add on the radio or TV has to do with a fad diet or a gimmick product for weight loss? From pill popping, to drops under your tongue, to sprinkling a dash of powder on your food, they have taken the old fashion weight loss techniques like healthy eating and exercise and made it seem like losing weight is a ‘quick’ fix.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but somewhere you have to have accountability. Remember the quote “No pain, No gain?” The miracle drugs that offer ‘guaranteed’ results never disclose what damage this does to your body much less your pocketbook to constantly see results. What happens when you stop taking the ‘miracle’ agent either in pill form, liquid form or powder form? Yep, you guessed it the weight you lost will come back, and at times it will double what you had before. Why does this happen you ask?

burn calories By loop_oh
If you work 8 to 5 Monday thru Friday in an office you will miss out on burning an average of 100 calories a day. This amount is based on Omaha, Nebraska different climates can be higher or lower. Constantly sitting in front of a computer can cause increased weight gain, depression and body fatigue not to mention stress. A big challenge women clients bring to me is when they work behind a computer all day, they crave bad foods. The cravings increase substantially when big dead lines come up.

As a Personalized Fitness Trainer, located in Omaha I always recommend to keep moving. Take several small breaks throughout the day to get your blood flowing and remove boredom. Let’s face it some jobs can cause overeating because they are boring.

A personal trainer will help you reach your goals by providing education about strength training along with accountability on nutrition. They give you that extra nudge when your mind shuts down and says to your body, “I cannot do anymore.” Personal trainers are there to celebrate your victories and also create a new game plan if there is a defeat. Have you ever asked your trainer, how can I help you train me better?

Here is how you can help your trainer:

Show up to your session on time with a positive attitude.  A client is filled with optimism that is contagious when they first sign up. They set a goal and they want to get there as quick as possible. In life you will have a bad day at work, or life just doesn’t seem to be going right. I suggest leaving all the stress at the door when you come to the gym. After all you have taken the first step and that is by showing up so now you can let your trainer assist you in what you need to do so you can feel 100% accomplished in your training session.

Within John Leyva’s article “Be a Little Different Then the Norm” he did a great job of explaining how positive it is to be a little different. He describes how natural excuse making comes for those who are not looking to become healthier. For example, people will say they can’t eat healthy as eating healthy is expensive but they will pay $100 for a haircut or handbag. And they will say they can’t afford a personal trainer however they will go out on the weekends party like a rock star spending all their money.
